We are seeking a Junior UX Designer to join our Design Team and contribute to the success of Ubuntu and other Canonical enterprise products. This role focuses on delivering outstanding user experience solutions, driving product design, and collaborating with various stakeholders. As part of the UX team, you will work closely with product managers, engineers, and other designers to refine and enhance open-source software usability. The role is fully remote but requires travel twice a year for in-person team gatherings. Candidates must be based in the EMEA region for this position.

👤    Who you are

• You have an exceptional academic track record in high school and university. • You hold a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in User Experience, Design, STEM, or have a compelling alternative experience. • You have a strong passion for user experience, technology, and design. • You are committed to continuous learning, adaptability, and scientific problem-solving. • You have a results-driven mindset with a focus on completing tasks and celebrating successes. • You demonstrate confidence in user research methodologies and best practices. • You actively engage with the latest design trends, research, and innovations. • You are capable of traveling internationally twice a year for up to two weeks for company events.

📑    What the job involves

• Conduct research within the open-source community and collaborate with Canonical customers to develop new features and improvements. • Work closely with product managers and engineers to define, shape, and enhance Canonical's product offerings. • Engage with the design team to ensure alignment with product strategy and best UX practices. • Develop and promote design systems to enhance user experience consistency and efficiency. • Analyze the broader scope of design decisions and manage interconnected constraints effectively. • Support internal working groups, contributing to Canonical’s larger design initiatives and cross-functional projects.
