Bark is seeking a Head of Design to lead its Product Design and UX Research teams and define the company’s design vision. This leader will report to the Chief Product Officer (CPO) and play a crucial role in transforming Bark’s platform from a seller-picks lead generation model into a consumer-centric marketplace. The Head of Design will set a user-focused strategy, develop high-performing design teams, and collaborate cross-functionally to achieve impactful business results.

👤    Who you are

• You have a proven track record as a leader in Product Design within a fast-paced, high-growth online business, ideally within a marketplace. • You have strong experience defining and communicating a design vision, and leading design teams to execute that vision with excellence. • You have successfully managed both Product Design and UX Research teams, with additional experience in content and branding being a plus. • You thrive in agile environments, employing lean methodologies to minimize waste and maximize outcomes. • You are an expert in balancing user-centric design with broader business needs and stakeholder alignment. • You are highly proficient in data-driven decision-making, utilizing both qualitative and quantitative research methods to inform strategy. • You have a strong ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Finance, Customer Support, and HR. • You are an excellent communicator capable of articulating complex design concepts to teams at all levels. • You are driven, ambitious, and motivated by the opportunity to shape and scale a company making a significant impact.

• Define the design vision for Bark, ensuring it aligns with business objectives and inspires the team. • Lead, mentor, and develop a growing Product Design and UX Research team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and quality. • Optimize team structures, resource allocation, and workflows to maximize impact. • Establish best-in-class design processes and ensure seamless integration across Product, Engineering, and Marketing teams. • Define, implement, and maintain Bark’s design system to drive consistency and quality across the platform. • Leverage data-driven insights to shape design strategies that improve user experience and business performance. • Stay current on industry trends and competitor offerings, ensuring Bark remains at the forefront of design and innovation. • Act as a hands-on leader, driving excellence in UX and UI design while executing strategic projects as needed. • Partner with product leaders, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to execute transformational change.
