The Senior Java Engineer will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining backend services for the B2C lending lifecycle. This position requires deep technical expertise, stakeholder collaboration, and leadership when coordinating with the engineering team in Shenzhen. Fluency in both Chinese and English is essential, as the role involves working closely with global and local counterparts for successful project execution.
• At least seven years of experience in professional software engineering, with a strong background in Java. • Possesses 2–3 years of experience in Python, particularly in building microservices and managing data-related tasks. • Demonstrated success in leading and delivering significant functionality in production environments. • Expertise in writing structured, maintainable, and testable Java code, following best practices. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in logging, monitoring, and data-driven product improvements. • Excellent communication skills in both Chinese and English for effective collaboration with global and local teams. • Proficiency in Git, as well as modern CI/CD workflows. • Working knowledge of cloud infrastructure, specifically AWS, GCP, or Azure. • Strong SQL skills for managing and retrieving data efficiently in MySQL and Postgres environments. • Experience in lending products and business processes is highly desirable. • Willingness to spend at least four months each year in Shenzhen to oversee the local engineering team.
• Develop and maintain Java-based backend services for the lending lifecycle, including customer onboarding, affordability assessment, loan disbursement, and repayment. • Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from designing solutions and reviewing code to writing tests and coordinating deployments. • Take ownership of a section of the platform, ensuring business processes function smoothly and key performance indicators (KPIs) are met. • Lead and mentor Shenzhen-based engineers to ensure clear communication and timely project execution. • Collaborate with Product, Design, QA, and other key stakeholders to refine requirements and improve development outcomes. • Provide second-line support within business hours, troubleshooting and resolving issues affecting customers. • Optimize data management and improve database performance through advanced SQL queries. • Implement effective logging and monitoring strategies to collect insights and drive continuous product enhancements.
